Clean Caramel Apple Dip {Recipe ReDux}

The September Recipe ReDux theme is Get Your Deyhydrator On.  Whether it’s extra garden bounty or a sale at the supermarket – dehydrating food is a budget-friendly way to stock up for later. You can use a food dehydrator, a low slow oven, or natural sunshine to preserve natural healthfulness.  The challenge this month was to create a recipe using something that has been dehydrated.

Clean caramel apple dip

My favorite dehydrated foods are dates and apricots.  You’d never guess that this recipe is made with dried fruit though.  It tastes like super thick, yummy caramel!  Try it, I think you’ll like it.

Be sure and check out all the other yummy recipes from some of your favorite food bloggers below the recipe!

Ingredients

  • 1 Cup Dates
  • 3 Tbsp Raw Honey
  • 2 Tbsp Almond Butter
  • 2 Tbsp Coconut Oil
  • 1/2 tsp. sea salt
  • 1 tsp. vanilla

Instructions

  • Place dates in a jar and cover with water for at least 4 hours.
  • Drain water off dates, and put in blender or food processor with all other ingredients.
  • Blend until smooth.
  • Serve with apples.

Notes

If the caramel is too thin, refrigerate it for about 30 minutes and it will thicken up nicely!
