Have you jumped on the Periscope craze yet? My productivity has been severely lacking thanks to that new little app.
If you’re not familiar, I almost hesitate to introduce you, because it’s that addicting. I’m not sure what it is—maybe the fact that I’m able to connect live with people I normally wouldn’t. Or just the excitement of being part of something new.
Actually, as I was thinking about which of my favorite Scopers I wanted to highlight in this post, all the ones that came to mind, stood out because of their authenticity. They get on Periscope and are genuine. They don’t try to be perfect, they offer helpful advice, share what is working for them, and they deliver it in a way that’s actionable and easy to implement. But most of all, they just share who they are. They talk about their lives in an authentic way, and that’s refreshing because social media is so full of everyone showing their highlight reel. You get some of that on Periscope too, but those aren’t the accounts I like to follow.
5 of my Favorite Periscope Accounts
Let me preface my list by saying these are my favorite scopers who aren’t giving business advice. I have some favorite business scopers as well, but I’ll save those for another day.
Hilary Silver – @askhilarysilver
Hilary is a couples therapist with 15 years of experience counseling men, women, and couples. She gives relationship advice, talks about communication, handling conflicts, setting boundaries, intimacy, trust, and so much more! I’ve learned so much from watching her scopes. She’s really made me reflect on my relationship with myself and others. Her sound, practical advice, from a personal and professional perspective is seriously rocking my world.
Hilary also has an online course starting soon called Hot, Healthy, and Happily Ever After. It’s an 8 week program for women who want to find and keep their love and passion alive long-term. I’m going to participate in the course, and I’m super excited. My husband and I have a great relationship and are committed to keep it that way, but we’ve both been married before, which means we both have some baggage. Our relationship is super important to me, so I’m looking forward to working through some of those things with Hilary. I’ll probably be sharing some of what I learn as I go through the course, so stay tuned for that. Click on the image below if you’d like to learn more about Hilary’s online program.
Crystal Paine – @moneysavingmom
Crystal’s periscopes are titled morning motivation. She talks about her family, her business, productivity, homeschooling, friendship, and so much more. She’s also been reading a book every week and going through a section each morning on her scopes. On Friday she has an “ask me anything” feature where she answers questions about pretty much anything.
Crystal is an amazing business woman, but more importantly, she’s a happy wife, committed mother, and focuses on the most important things in life first. She is the creator of Makeover Your Mornings which is a fabulous online course to help you organize your life and get your days started off right. I’ve gone through the course myself and it’s full of easy to implement action steps that helped me create my own morning routine. It’s been life changing for me, and I highly recommend the course. It’s only $17, and totally worth far more than that. If it sounds interesting, click on the image below to learn more. You can even get the first lesson in the course for free to check it out before you buy it.
I almost don’t even know how to describe Megan. You really have to experience listening to her to see how inspiring she is. Megan is an enoughness coach. Don’t you just love that title? She helps high-achieving women who are ready to be ENOUGH as they are. On her scopes she talks about accepting all parts of ourselves, about vulnerability and authenticity, and about how our stories define the way we see the world. Her whole message revolves around claiming your enoughness. Since authenticity is the word I picked for my life for 2015, her work is deeply resonating with me. I really want to do some one-on-one work with her, so I’ve added that to my goal list of things to save for.
Megan also has a free private group on Facebook called the Live True Tribe. To learn more about Megan and the work she does, click on the image of her below.
Erin Woodbury – @ErinCWoodbury
Erin calls herself a healthy habit maker. She is a mom, a fitness instructor, and a media chef. Most of her scopes include her in the kitchen making awesome recipes using clean, whole foods. I adopted a clean eating lifestyle about 18 months ago and will never go back, so I love getting new ideas. I love following Erin because of her spunky personality and the genuine kindness she shows toward her periscope viewers. Erin uses a lot of interesting ingredients in her recipes, and I’m learning a lot about healthy alternatives by watching her. She also shares a lot of the latest research and information about why it’s so important to follow a whole foods lifestyle.
Erin also has a feature called Secret Sauce Sunday where she isn’t in the kitchen making one of her yummy recipes. Instead, she addresses many of the questions she’s gotten from her viewers throughout the week. I learn a lot from her and get so many great food ideas. If I ever miss one her scopes, I make sure to catch it on the replay.
Erin also has a blog called Living Lean with Erin where she posts all the recipes she cooks on her scopes. You can visit her blog by clicking on her photo below.
Amy Wyler – @PolkaDotsWishes
Amy is super fun to follow. She’s a busy homeschooling mama with 7 children and I love her because she tells it like it is. She shares a lot about her life, what she’s doing in her family, and also talks a bit about business and productivity. I really identify with her because we both have large families, work from home, and want to keep our lives focused on the things that matter. It never fails, any time I’ve having a down day, Amy’s scopes pick me up and help me realize I’m not alone.
Amy is also the founder of Mommy Scopes which is an online community for moms who are using Persicope. I’ve found a lot of great moms to follow, and I love being part of such a supportive community. Amy also owns Polka Dots N’ Wishes Travel. Click on the image below if you’re interested in joining the #mommyscopes community.
