It’s been an interesting experience running the Self-Love Challenge this month. I’ve learned so much from the 50 women who are participating. It’s become so evident that we all struggle with the same kinds of things—self doubt, perfectionism, discouragement, overwhelm, people pleasing, negativity—just reading that list brings me down.
A key to having more self love is to be able to recognize and acknowledge all the ways you are amazing. Be grateful for YOU! Often when we look at gratitude, we turn it outward and recognize all the external things we are thankful for. My challenge to you today is to come up with 10 things you appreciate about yourself. What do you like about yourself? What gives you value? What makes you unique? What are your strengths?
My list of ten things I love and appreciate about myself!
1) I love working hard.
2) I no longer eat instead of feeling.
3) I love being alone.
4) I’m madly in love with my husband.
5) I’m kind.
6) I’m not judgmental.
7) I love that I can see the value in other women.
8) I learn things easily.
9) I’m a survivor.
10) I’m a great mom.
Now it’s your turn!
Remember, this isn’t bragging or being arrogant. Don’t worry, you don’t have to share this list, although I’d love to hear what you come up with!
I encourage you to do this for yourself, because the things you appreciate and acknowledge will grow. Most of us spend time on the things we don’t like about ourselves, so I’d like you to direct your attention and energy to things that make you feel good for a change.
Once you have your list, post it somewhere you can access it easily. Anytime you’re struggling or feeling sad, stop and think about something you appreciate. You’ll feel different immediately.
